Confirm why 2.12.14 is required
Check whether a dependent mod, server pack, or launcher manifest explicitly requests 2.12.14. If a working pack pins that version, changing it without checking compatibility can break the pack.
Record the exact Minecraft version and loader family at the same time.
Match the loader build
CreativeCore can appear in searches alongside multiple loader names. A version number alone does not tell you whether a file is Fabric or Forge.
Use the release metadata or filename to confirm the loader before placing the JAR into an instance.
Check for duplicates
Remove old duplicate copies from the mods folder after confirming which one you intend to use. Two versions of the same library can cause duplicate-mod or ambiguous dependency errors.
Keep a backup outside the active mods folder instead of leaving the old JAR beside the new one.
Test dependent mods together
A library can launch successfully while a dependent mod still requires a different API range. Test the actual mod combination you plan to use.
